Review Journal/UNLV Football beat writer; Mark Anderson interview & thoughts

On Tuesday, Chad and I had a chance to catch up with Las Vegas Review Journal/UNLV Football beat writer Mark Anderson on the show, covering in detail the Rebel's search for a new head coach in the wake of Bobby Hauck's resignation on Monday.
Many different points and counterpoints were made regarding the most logical choice for a new head coach (hear the complete interview in "Ear Candy of the Week"), but one in specific that left me wondering about the viability of the UNLV football program going forward.
While my intention is not to sound "heavy handed", or overly critical of possible staff choices by our state's second largest university, as a resident of Las Vegas for nearly 30 years, I feel I have earned the right to say "What the hell are you thinking - a HIGH SCHOOL coach?!"
Over recent days notion that Bishop Gorman head coach Tony Sanchez was the university's only choice as successor to Hauck has subsided somewhat (with actual college and pro coaches expressing interest), it still horrifies me that reason being floated about for "why" Sanchez would be hired would be so simple, and slimy...money.
To be sure, the UNLV programs, all of the programs, could benefit from additional support from the regents, the community, and business leaders. However, the thought that Lorenzo Fertitta (the anti-union Station Casino boss & UFC owner) would pony up 30million bucks to build a new "facility" - but only if....UNLV hired a f*#king HIGH SCHOOL coach - is deplorable!
If a wealthy member of this community (who's children by the way do not attend UNLV) would like to be a gracious, giving, and charitable donor to our beloved UNLV, by all means please do so.
But if it's true that any asterix, or condition was placed on the reported "donation", in order to secure Sanchez, (a talented to be sure) HIGH SCHOOL coach, to lead our program in it's most critical juncture in it's history, shame on you, and shame on all of us if we accept it.
