The disturbing trend, Nippleless people

In an upcoming advertisement for Guess, Gigi Hadid is shown nippleless. I can't help but wonder if this is an attempt to get past public nudity decency in advertising or is it somethign more?

Sexy or freaky?

In a disturbing trend that pushes the boundaries, more and more, nipples are simply being airbrushed out of photos all together. Instead of wearing clothing that simply wouldn’t reveal a nipple in the first place, the trend moves further toward a genderless culture. Bluring the lines of what it means to be Male or Female.

Gigi is not the first, Heidi Klum made a splash with her Jordache ad and American Apparel has been removing the nipples from it’s product sample photos, in a desprate effort to rebrand the failing company, as well as Rolling Stone, even LA artist Justin Mays. @maysgrafx is getting in on the nippleless action.

American Apparel was under fire last year for their mini skirt product photo.

Yuviral says it best, "This ad is a clear example of the company's previous advertising via "sexualized staging". The merchandising of this skirt (in the larger photo) was branded "sexist" by an avalanche of social media comments when it debuted last summer under Charney's company reign, thankfully it was quickly removed due to the angry uproar it caused."

"Uproar" or "Upskirt"?

Ironically, this action is garnering some ire from known Social justice Warriors as this trend flies in the very face of all they hold dear. How is it possible to be upset over the Patriarchal hyper sexualization of women, by removing the parts of women that are hyper sexualized? Because, when they were anatomically correct, it encouraged viewing women as nothing but a sex object; now that their breasts are bare, they look like a plastic doll’s breasts, which is encourages viewing women as sex objects. If that diddn't make any sense to you either, congradulations, yoo make gud brayne.

Co-founder of nipple print bikini top tata top, Michelle Lytle had this to say on the issue.

“This is a step in the wrong direction and is contributing to the sexualization of a woman’s body at a time where there is a large and growing movement for equality.”

Basically, I understand her to mean that women should be anatomically correct all the time and should probably walk around naked, all the time. Which I actually agree with.

In case you live under a rock and don't know who the genius Michelle Lytle is, she is the prodigy designer that makes bikini tops for women that have nipples screen printed on to them, so it looks like the woman is topless, but really she isnt; or as I like to say, it's for trendy low class women that want to pretend to take risk, but still stay safe.

Perhaps there is more to it than an attempt to (nipple) slip past the censors and publish advertisements that push not only the boundries of public nudity but of good taste too.

Fashion directs the movement of trends and as it appears, there are no signs of this new trend slowing down.

How do you make the life of a 10 year old boy more difficult? Convince him to pose for a picture like this.
